Who I am
Hi there! My name is Tara Peltier. I am a proud military spouse of 25 years and mother of four beautiful children who is passionate about healthy living - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I am an experienced Certified Precision Nutrition Level 2 Coach, AFAA Personal Fitness Trainer, and AFAA Group Fitness Instructor with more than a decade in the fitness industry. I specialize in body awareness and mindset change, weight loss, body composition, resistance training, injury prevention, flexibility & mobility, boot camp, perinatal fitness, TRX, StrongFirst Kettlebell, indoor cycling, and one on one and group training. I have competed in body building, multiple marathons, am an avid cyclist and love to hike. I am a graduate of the Forks over Knives Ultimate Cooking Course.
What I Do
Teaching one healthy habit at a time in the kitchen and in the gym.
My goal is to empower you to reach your fitness and nutrition goals. I do this by teaching you how to apply simple skills to master one healthy habit at a time, both in the kitchen and in your workouts. I will motivate you, meet you where you are, and challenge you to achieve the best possible version of yourself that you can be. The nutrition and personal training coaching I offer is customized for each client based on individual needs and goals regardless of age, gender, physical limitations, diet preference (i.e. keto, paleo, vegan) or kitchen talent. I will provide you sound, practical and affordable techniques, hold you accountable free of judgment, and encourage you as we negotiate your heathy living journey together.
Nutrition Coaching
Getting fit begins with fueling the body with healthy nutrition; and then comes exercise. We cannot out-exercise a poor diet. When we fuel our bodies with healthy foods we find ourselves feeling better and having more energy to focus on the things important to us. I coach healthy eating habits based on individual needs and teach strategies on how to make better choices around food with an emphasis on whole, unprocessed foods. Clients also learn skills on setting up their kitchen, meal prep, and how to manage hunger cues and emotional eating. I use a behavioral change approach designed to develop one healthy habit at a time while reinforcing previously developed healthy habits as you progress through the program. Personal Training
Getting fit starts with fueling the body with healthy nutrition, but ultimate fitness includes physical exercise. Our bodies need movement to maintain cardiovascular health, endurance, strength, balance and flexibility. I develop customized workout plans based on client goals, fitness level, and ability. Using live video, I will lead you through challenging workouts with your equipment in the comfort of your home or at the gym as we focus on your goals. My aim is to make exercise fun for you and to help you gain confidence while enhancing your overall fitness. Your personal training sessions will be designed with a variety of exercises where I focus on proper form and body alignment with injury prevention in mind so you can apply these skills on your own. I had the misfortune to break my right tibia and fibula in late November of 2018. This required surgery and the insertion of hardware into my lower leg; following the surgery, I needed physical therapy so I could begin to walk normally. I pursued the prescribed therapy, and was wished “good luck.” Not feeling fully healed, I contacted Tara Peltier at the gym for help with additional training. After several months of focused effort, Tara brought me back to feeling good, with my former strength and a normal gait. She took the effort seriously, reviewing relevant musculoskeletal guides so we could focus on any problem areas. She was also very encouraging, when I needed the extra push.
